The 2024 year was a growing year for us here at the Eighth Street Community. We have had many exciting things happen over the year for us.
In April of this year we had our ribbon cutting to open "Andrea's Suds and Skills Laundry Facility" with 4 commercial washers and dryers to help with job preparation for our residents.
In May we were gifted "Hank's House" which will be used as a specialized residential home. We are excited to move residents into the house in 2025. Also, in May our Board of Directors, with the help of Flourish Consulting, met and developed our strategic plan for growth.
We also experienced some house upgrades to our "305" House with getting our siding outside wrapped and 3 new bathrooms throughout the year.
We hosted our annual fundraisers to help with Operational Cost and growing our Endowment with our Love Grows Here and Whiskey, Wine and Moonshine events. Also, while at Whiskey, Wine and Moonshine event we raised enough funds to purchase our new transit van in 2025.
In August of this year our residents started attending the Huntsville Hospital Wellness Center in Jones Valley. They love getting to swim in the pool and walk on the treadmills.
We also saw growth with our volunteers and companies coming in to help with our homes and resident outings. We have added 60 individual volunteers and 5+ new organizations and corporate groups. We love our volunteers and cannot wait to continue to grow the number of people who love our residents!
Thank you all who have helped, donated, and spent time with our residents over the year. We cannot thank you enough for loving them and putting smiles on their faces. We cannot wait to see you all in 2025!
